This week our Internship Spotlight is focused on David Edwards, a senior Marketing & Management double major from Union, KY! David has been working as a Global Supply Chain Management Intern with Lockheed Martin since June of 2020. His position is within the Special Operations Forces Global Logistics Support Services department.

What does a typical day look like on the job?

David’s day as an intern with Lockheed Martin consists of tracking and resolving logistical or financial issues that may occur while supplying any necessary equipment from attack helicopters and weapon systems to mousepads and ball-point pens that are needed by the American Warfighter in the field.

What has been your favorite part of the job?

“My favorite part of the job is a hard tie between how cool it is to see and work with the most high-tech military equipment in the world every day and working alongside so many incredible people who constantly teach me new things and inspire me to be better and genuinely care about me.”

What are your career goals and how will this experience help you achieve them?

“My ultimate career goal is to remain in the Defense and Aerospace Industry and some day work in the Sales Department for them. By working with the biggest and best defense company in the world on the SOF GLSS contract, I am hoping to learn the ins and outs of the industry and company in order to more clearly realize the path to achieving this goal.”
