Faculty Spotlight: Meet Professor Jack Kirn

MGT301, MGT450, MBA Courses for Negotiations, HR Management Course

Favorite class to teach:

MGT301, because it is hard to get a personal experience and Professor Kirn loves being able to get the crowd involved. He also enjoys teaching it because the class covers quite a few topics of Management.

Best advice for taking his class:

To his MGT301 class – Professor Kirn has three tips in order to be successful. (1) Your professors want to meet you. (2) Take advantage of the Gatton Student Organizations. (3) Study abroad and get an internship.

Why Professor Kirn chose to be a professor:

Professor Kirn chose to be a professor because he wanted to continue his education. He was in corporate America for 30 years. This experience allows him to use real examples in class. He then went on the complete his MBA at the University of Kentucky. This is when one of his professors saw potential in him and he was then able to teach two classes. Soon after that he became a full-time professor.

What he did this past summer:

Professor Kirn spent most of his summer finishing off his wedding planning! He was looking forward to taking students on a study abroad trip in Florence Italy. He also finished building his house.
