Responsibilities:
- Accounting Manager Plans and directs all accounting, banking, and tax activities for the organization with guidance from the President, by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinates;
- Preparation of GAAP financial statements, including document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation and reconciliation processes.
- Oversee all company spending and develop strategies for efficiency improvements, such as holding monthly budget meetings.
- Manages and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis.
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budgeting, accounting, and/or payroll.
- Implements the company’s system of accounting policies and procedures and a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Manage all aspects of AR/AP function.
- Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records and reviews for accuracy.
- Prepares reports that outline the company’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, assets, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
- Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, sales tax, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
- Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
- Arranges the monthly cost of sales figures by analyzing material, and labor.
- Assists in the monthly and year-end physical inventory process.
- Effective and proper handling of confidential information.
- Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
- Oversees the review or independent auditing or review by outside independent accounting authority.
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
- Coordinates preparation of external financial reporting.
- Reviews financial statements for every segment of the organization with management personnel ensuring accountability for the day-to-day operation of each area.
- Confers frequently with outside CPA firm to solve accounting problems in an expeditious manner.
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers using Sage 50 accounting database.
- Provides financial status reports to the President.
- Assures that customers have timely, clear, and accurate invoicing, reconciles customers’ accounts.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance
- MBA or CPA is a plus.
- 5+ years of direct experience as an accountant
- 3+ years of supervisory/management experience in manufacturing or industrial field (automotive preferred) to include increasingly responsible assignments.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Proficient computer skills with MS Excel, accounting software and databases
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to direct and supervise.
