Locations Available: Internships are available depending on the need of the satellite location. Most commonly: Carmel, Louisville, Sarasota, Richmond, KY.

This internship begins as rotational program focusing within the following divisions: Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, and Employee Benefits as well as Accounting, Marketing, and Financial Services. The intern will have the opportunity to shadow account managers, sales executives, account coordinators, and leaders within the organization.
After shadowing is complete, the intern will choose a specific focus in a division and will be assigned more specific tasks and projects, being exposed to a more day-to-day workflow. Interns will also have the opportunity to meet with and learn more about carriers and brokerages, participate in a volunteer event to give back to the community, and visit other local offices. The internship will culminate in a presentation of a term project to the executive leaders at Shepherd Insurance. The goal of this internship opportunity is to spark interest in full-time employment upon graduation.
Our Summer internship program ranges from the end of May/beginning of June to the beginning of August. Totaling about 10 weeks, Monday-Thursday 8 AM-4 PM. Interns can work up to 30 hours per week, schedule permitting. This is a competitively compensated internship. Outside of our rotational internship, we also offer specialized internships in specific areas such as: Marketing, IT, Data & Training, Accounting, etc.
Requirements
- Junior/Senior Level student with degree or secondary degree is not required but preferred in Risk Management and Insurance.
- Provide positive, prompt, accurate, and courteous service.
- Ability to self-manage.
- Value high ethical standards and personal integrity.
- Exceptional organization skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and promptly on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
